This Week's Weather Forecasting 16th - 20th April 2012
«

A big and slow moving ridge of high pressure will bring quiet weather to the country this week. We’ve been talking about this high for a few days now. We’ve also been talking about all the dry weather it’s meant to bring us.
But there is one small addition we need to make.
Early on Tuesday, a little piece of energy could start to swing the winds around to the southeast. That change, combined with support the upper atmosphere, could lead to a few showers for the coastal sections of Canterbury.
As we said the other day, highs don't guarantee dry, sunny weather, but generally speaking they do. Coastal areas, however, can be vulnerable to cloud and showers, especially around the edges as it moves in.
As we get into Tuesday evening, the chances for showers will then work their way up the eastern coast.
On Wednesday, we will see those chances for showers move into Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne during the morning and afternoon.
Keep in mind the chance of rain is 20 to 40%.
On Thursday, the low shower risk will still be brushing Gisborne and East Cape in the morning, and potentially Northland.
Overall - most of of New Zealand can still expect a dry week ahead.

Well I hope you lot over, up and down are enjoying the sun.
Look at this forecast for Friday for the east coast.
This will take the rain days total for April to 13 with 6 days dry.
Total raindays for the last month of 31 days =
23 days!!!!!
8 dry days out of 31!!!!
Rainfall for that period only 249.3mm Not high at all as most raindays 8mm and under.
Mahia Beach has had 14 raindays this April while Nuhaka has had 15 rain days out of 18 days this April; 3 dry days.

Not everywhere Jenny. We started the month well but have had enough cloudy southerlies/SE-ers to be barely above average sun for the month now, while places like N Plymouth, Nelson, Tekapo and central Otago/lakes bask in a lot of sunshine. This means we're still miles short of our average sun for the year so far, on top of a cloudier year than normal in 2011.
My sympathies to you of course - you have had very frequent rain/showers and it would be very annoying. I would certainly feel cheated in your situation.
