I bought this device as 'new' via Trademe.  When I installed it everything appeared to work as it ought but after a couple of weeks the wind and rain reports were replaced by lines of hyphens.  The confounding thing is everything else appears to be functioning normally.
I have tried the remedy suggested in the handbook of pressing the 'reset' on the device with a paperclip, but this didn't change anything.  I wondered whether anyone else has experienced a similar issue and discovered what causes the fault or, how to correct the issue so reporting is restored.

Hi Ceolmor
I'm guessing you have a Scientific Sales thing sold by DirectOnline (I think)
A quick google indicates it might be one of the later ones, ie a one piece integrated sensor array,
a white frame with black wind sensors & rain bucket top, going by their online pix.
If that matches then I suggest you get back to the supplier to seek help.

If it's actually an older system with separate plug in sensors, then there are quite a few things you should check to try to sort it out.

Oh, forgot to mention
Scientific Sales web site for this lastest system states
"This device is not recommended for 24/7 connection to a computer for live weather reading."

Um, so that sounds contradictory to other comments &&&& really?
