Northland to Taumarunui, including Taupo
Cloudy periods, with isolated showers, clearing this morning.

Taranaki and Taihape to Horowhenua Kapiti Coast
Showers spreading north tonight, and snow lowering to 300 metres.

Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine. However, showers with hail about the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne coasts.

Wairarapa and Wellington
Showers, with snow lowering to 300 metres. Strong cold southerlies.

Nelson, Buller and Westland
Fine weather.

Marlborough and Canterbury
Sleet or snow showers falling north of Ashburton, easing and becoming isolated by evening as strong cold southerlies ease.

Fiordland, Southland and Otago
Isolated sleet or snow showers, easing in the morning, and then clearing and becoming fine in the afternoon as strong cold southerlies die away.
