Cloudy periods and a few showers, some heavy and possibly thundery in the Far North.

Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Taupo
Fine spells. Isolated showers about Auckland and Coromandel, mainly in the east, spreading to Bay of Plenty and Taupo this evening.

Waikato to Wellington, including Taihape, also Gisborne to Wairarapa
Mostly fine, but cloudy periods and a few showers about northern Taranaki, Kapiti and Wellington.

Nelson and the Marlborough Sounds
Cloud increasing, and showers developing this morning.

Remainder of Marlborough, and Canterbury
High cloud increasing, with a few spots of rain from afternoon.

Otago and Southland
Scattered rain spreading north this morning, clearing during afternoon then mainly fine.

Buller to Fiordland
Rain spreading north, heavy and possibly thundery at times, easing in Fiordland and south Westland this afternoon.
