PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN FOR NORTHLAND THIS WEEKEND.A broad area of low pressure lies just north of New Zealand. A front associated with this low pressure system, is expected to approach Northland on Saturday, then move slowly south on Sunday. Strong to gale northeasterlies precede this front, with periods of heavy rain about northern and eastern parts of Northland during the weekend. The more persistent heavy falls are expected from Saturday evening through to Sunday evening, when 120 to 150mm is likely to accumulate over a 30 hour period.
