Mainly fine, late drizzle in Wellington. Severe northwest gales in exposed places in the south this afternoon and elsewhere from evening.

Nelson
Fine, but rain with heavy falls developing about the ranges during the day.

Buller, Westland
Rain with some heavy falls spreading from the south. Thunderstorms possible this evening.

Fiordland
Rain with some heavy and possibly thundery falls.

Otago, Southland
Scattered rain for a time this afternoon and evening. Westerlies, gale about the coast.

Chatham Islands
Showers, with hail and possible thunderstorms clearing in the afternoon.
