Cyclone Tim has formed off the coast of North Queensland. Currently a Category 2 storm, it is expected to travel ESE over the next 12-24 hours.

SITUATION
At 0600 UTC Tropical Cyclone Tim was centred within 15 nautical miles of
 latitude fourteen decimal nine south (14.9S)
 longitude one hundred and forty nine decimal nine east (149.9E)
Recent movement : east southeast at 15 knots
Maximum winds   : 50 knots
Central pressure: 984 hPa

AREA AFFECTED
Within 100 nautical miles of the centre.

FORECAST
Maximum winds to 50 knots near the centre increasing to 60 knots by 0600 UTC 15
March.

Winds above 48 knots within 30 nautical miles of centre with very rough to high
seas and moderate to heavy swell.

Winds above 34 knots within 100 nautical miles of centre with rough to very
rough seas and developing moderate to heavy swell.

Forecast positions
At 1800 UTC 14 March: Within 40 nautical miles of 15.6 south 152.2 east
                        Central pressure 981 hPa.
          Winds to 60 knots near centre.
At 0600 UTC 15 March: Within 65 nautical miles of 16.2 south 153.8 east
                        Central pressure 981 hPa.

Cyclone Tim doesn't look to be sticking around for long, with it weakening to a category 1 storm over the past 24 hours. By Midday today, it is expected to be a tropical low. Final update for Tim follows:

Yes - interesting it has almost double backed on itself, so obviously still some energy there to keep it going. Currently predicting to be category 1 for another 12 hours or so, but as I pretty much said that last night, I'm not taking bets tonight  :D
