An anticyclone with it’s centre just east of the South Island covers most of New Zealand bringing settled weather. There is the chance though of a few showers about Gisborne, Coromandel and eastern Northland.
Upper North Island
East to southeast breezes a little brisk at times, expect cloudy and sunny areas. The Bay Of Plenty and Waikato will be mostly sunny and dry with lighter winds. The odd shower also about Gisborne, Coromandel and eastern Northland. Auckland may see a few brief showers in the evening.
HIGHS: 24-27, 20 in Gisborne
Lower North Island
Cloudy on the east coast with showers about Hawkes Bay clearing in the morning, breezy east to southeast winds. Sunny areas and some cloud in Wellington with southeasterlies. Mostly sunny out west with east to southeast winds, about northern Taranaki winds are looking to be fairly light, a sea breeze may even develop on the coast there.
HIGHS: 23-26 in the west, 18-20 out east
Upper South Island
Mostly sunny weather with areas of cloud particularly along the east coast. Light winds on the West Coast and in Nelson, about Golden Bay and the Sounds expect breezy east to southeast winds. For Marlborough down through to Canterbury expect brisk east to northeast winds.
HIGHS: 21-23 on the West Coast and in Nelson, 25 for inland Buller, 19-21 in Canterbury and Marlborough
Lower South Island
Mostly sunny weather with light winds inland and about Southland, brisk northeasterlies develop along the Otago coastline in the afternoon with some cloud. Cloudy periods on the West Coast south of Haast with the chance of a light shower now and then, northerlies.
