A weak ridge of high pressure will push over much of the country today. That means a fairly settled day can be expected for most places.
 
However, one region that may see some precipitation tomorrow is the western and lower parts of the South Island. During the afternoon, a few showers could pop up as a disturbance works its way on shore.
 
A few rogue showers could also pop around Wellington, Wairarapa and Wanganui. These precipitation chances will likely be confined to the morning hours. Anything that does pop up should be light and short-lived.
 
The rest of the country should remain rain-free today.

High pressure has kicked off the Labour Day weekend with a fairly settled day for most regions.  Rain is pretty difficult to find today.

One region that has seen some precipitation today is the western South Island.  Westport, Greymouth and Hokitika have all seen some shower activity.  This will probably continue for the rest of the afternoon.  Tonight, the precipitation will likely become more widespread.

The lower South Island has also seen some rain today with deepsouthweather.co.nz reporting that Invercargill has had just over 1mm since midnight.

The rest of the country is seeing a mix of sun and clouds, mostly clouds.

Some of the sunnier spots today include Gisborne, Taupo, Hanmer Springs and Kaikoura.  But even in these areas there are still plenty of clouds landscaping the sky.

Temperatures at last report ranged from 12 at Hokitika to 19.4 at Whangarei.
