High cloud above, sun trying to break through, should be an okay sort of day

Cloudy to overcast morning with temperature at 9.4° after a low of 7.4°. It was 11.8° at 4.13am. Should fine up later with a high of 13°. Wind from the ESE at around 9kmh gusting up to 33kmh within the last hour. No rain since midnight.

Tokoroa 9:30am

Coolish 9.6ºC after a 3.1ºC O/N low.  A westerly wind around 5-15km/hr gusting to 20km/hr and passing clouds may be the story of the day. No rain.

Well a poem shall not be written but this week we very much dedicate to the westerlies of spring, and they will be strong at times also. Anticyclones are sticking to the north of New Zealand for this week while low pressure system after low pressure system looks to be passing over the south of the country.

Western areas are likely to have more showery spells being exposed to the west naturally and while eastern areas will receive a few periods of showery southwesterlies these will be preceded by warm northwesterlies.
 
Our windows of opportunity for thundery development are likely to be Thursday and then again over the weekend later this week, however these spells may be more restricted to western areas.
 
Today a weakening front is moving over the North Island bringing a few showers, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne managed some sun and warmth this morning getting into the high teens however about now that will be cut down by the impending southwesterly. Gore is the coolest on 6.7 degrees but that doesn’t matter when you have huge brown trout in my opinion.
 
The windiest spot today is Invercargill with 55 km/h westerlies gusting to 74 km/h at times.
