A north to northwesterly airflow gradually picks up over the country today. Cloud increasing in western areas with some late rain for southwestern parts of the North Island and the South Island's West Coast. Generally sunny weather for most in the east with some high cloud developing.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells with west to northwest breezes. There may be a brief morning shower or two, mainly about Auckland. Cloud starts to increase in the afternoon as winds tend more northwest and there is the risk of a brief late afternoon shower.
Highs: 18-19

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny with westerly breezes, some cloud starts to increase in the afternoon as winds tend more northwest. Chance spot of rain late afternoon and evening.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island
Sunny after any morning cloud clears, light winds tend northeast in the afternoon. Evening high cloud.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island
Sunny spells and increasing cloud, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon with rain developing later in the evening. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington
Sunny spells and increasing cloud, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon with rain developing later in the evening. Northerly winds strengthen becoming strong in the afternoon.
High: 16

Nelson
Sunny at first with light southwesterlies, some cloud increases from afternoon as winds tend northerly then freshen. Evening rain develops.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough
Sunny with northwesterly winds picking up in the afternoon, high cloud develops afternoon onwards also. Later in the evening some rain develops.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds at first possibly tending southerly, northeasterlies develop in the afternoon. High cloud develops from afternoon also then around midnight some rain moves in.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast
Cloud increasing from morning, becoming mostly cloudy by midday with northeasterly winds. Rain develops in the evening becoming heavy around midnight.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago
Mostly sunny with northeasterly breezes.
High: 16

Southland & Central Otago
Mostly sunny with west to northwesterly breezes, some high cloud.
Highs: 16-17
