Hi all
As many will know I've recently moved house. We went from a very open and windy location, to a sheltered location. We get wind from the south, but the NW is now truly a gentle breeze. When the wind blows from the south it seems to register about what I would expect it to.
I've noticed that the anenometer cups on my Vantage Vue seem to have a bit of stickiness or inertia. They seem to take a fairly good puff to get started, whereas at my old house they rotated fairly readily. At least that's my perception. It was fairly windy up the top of the hill so they would have had a hammering
I've had it down and cleaned it all out. There is a spindle that the cups sit on that I disassembled as much as I could, cleaned and then reassembled. Put it back up and it behaves the same way. If I spin the cups they still rotate easily. No grinding noises or anything.
So now I'm unsure if I have a problem, or it's just that I've moved into a sheltered area. It may be that we didn't get many light winds at our old house!
Has anyone else struck a problem like this? If anyone has a Vue, can they take a look at it in light winds and see if it rotates the cups, and comes to a gradual stop, or does it just stop almost immediately when the wind stops?
Any help appreciated
Thanks
