Sounds like you've got squatters in your guage Martin.  :(
Spiders found their way into mine at about 6 months & their webs stop the tipper working effectively or at all.

With Cumulus its recommended you shut everything down, then go look at things.
This is supposed to reduce the chance of nonsense rogue readings.
I imagine it would be a similar method with your setup, from memory meteobridge direct to WU?

Jenny will no doubt have some detailed advice.

6 months!!!! You did very well then. I doubt I last 6 months before taking down to clean especially if we have had a long dry period. Yep as Wolfie said, spiders and webs for sure.
Here is the order.

Close Cumulus.
Take batteries out of console. This is so no bogus rainfall occurs.

Head outside, clean out rain gauge with toothbrush and water :)
I always put flyspray around pole underneath. That seems to help.

Go back inside.
Put batteries back in. Wait for console to read in data.
Start up Cumulus.

If do have bogus rainfall then in Cumulus:
Edit - Todays Rainfall  ( change to 0.0 or whatever it should be. )

Good luck :)
