Waikato, Waitomo, Taumarunui, Taupo, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne
Patchy rain, clearing this morning. A few showers developing in the west in the evening.

Taranaki and Taihape to Horowhenua
Cloudy periods and a few showers.

Kapiti, Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa, also Nelson and Marlborough
Mainly fine, but a few showers about Nelson. Strong northwesterlies, rising to gale in exposed places this evening.

Canterbury
Mainly fine, however showers developing this afternoon or evening with isolated thunderstorms and hail.

Buller, Westland
Occasional showers.

Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Showers, some heavy and squally, with thunderstorms and hail about the south coast.

Chatham Islands
A few showers developing.
