Northland and Coromandel
Cloudy periods. Rain developing this evening.

Auckland, Waikato, Taupo and Bay of Plenty
Cloud increasing. Rain developing this afternoon, easing to showers tonight.

Taranaki to Kapiti Coast, including Taumarunui and Taihape
Showers developing this morning, becoming heavy and thundery with hail from evening.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Wellington
Mainly fine, but a few showers spreading north today.

Buller and the ranges of Nelson
Showers, becoming heavy and thundery with hail this afternoon.

The remainder of Nelson and Marlborough
Mostly fine, but brief showers this morning and evening.

Canterbury
Mostly fine this morning. Scattered thundery showers with hail from afternoon, mainly south of Christchurch.

Otago, Southland, Westland and Fiordland
Showers, some heavy and thundery with hail. Snow lowering to 600 metres in Fiordland this morning.

Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods. Rain tonight.
