SundayA showery northwest flow covers the North Island today (Sunday) with bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms. This Watch covers the possibility of rainfall accumulations reaching warning amounts in some parts of the North Island today.
In Waitomo and Taranaki about and north of the mountain, heavy rain in thunderstorms is likely throughout today and should ease overnight.
A period of heavy rain is also possible in Manawatu, the Tararua District and northern Wairarapa this afternoon and evening, with localised downpours possible.
In addition, heavy rain currently falling about the Kapiti Coast and the Tararua Range is expected to continue this morning with localised downpours possible, before easing early this afternoon.
