TuesdayA complex trough of low pressure over the Tasman Sea is forecast to slowly approach the country today and tomorrow and should cross central New Zealand Thursday morning. Unsettled conditions can be expected over northern parts of both islands in a moist north to northeasterly flow, with localised bursts of heavy rain and possible thundery downpours. The heaviest rainfalls are expected about northwest Nelson and northern Taranaki today and tomorrow, especially about the ranges, and also about Gisborne and Bay of Plenty east of Opotiki late this afternoon and evening. This Watch is for the possibility that rainfall accumulations may reach warning criteria in these areas during that time.
