WD not receiving fromData Logger

I have had my PC that runs my weather station crash and needs to be replaced Just waiting for another.
Downloaded latest WD from Brian onto another PC , intserted wdisplay.ini and wdisplayftp.reg but WD is not getting any data fron my Davis Vantage pro2 I have the comm port set to 4 which I think is correct .It is not registered at this stage as I hope other will be back in a few days Running Windows7. USB Data Logger It worked fine on other PC Any suggestions would be appriciated as I am unable to update my web site.

Probably the comm port. A couple of thoughts:

1: What does it say on the blue bar across the top of WD (Com Port Error?)

2: Are you running a usb or serial logger?

3: If running usb, have you run the virtual port software  located here?

Running the reg files will set up wd exactly the same way that it was set up on your old pc. It's likely that the port setup isn't the same on the new pc. I'd back it being com3 once you've installed the virtual port drivers ;-)

Might have to run weatherlink (close WD first) and just check the new PC is assigning the same comport as the old one.
Weatherlink will search and find the comport that the console is on

Tried 3& 4 still nothing
Nothing at the top no blue line It is not registed yet would that make a difference
Running USB with windows 7  worked OK on XP

You can try weatherlink. It is useful for doing a port scan, but I have to admit last time I set mine up, I just looked in the control panel.

Okay - check the obvious - connected to usb port on new pc? Does anything else work on that port? Check the datalogger is fully seated in the console. Reboot PC, and check again. Most of that should be ok, but just checking

Next I'd look at the control panel. Those drivers can be tricky to install

Start - Control Panel - System and Security - System - Device Manager

Check under ports - you should have one that says "Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge" then maybe a com port beside it
Check it is installed properly (ie no yellow dot on it). If it is installed OK that's not the problem, and you should be able to take the comport and put it into WD

If it's not installed at all (ie you don't see it after a reboot) then try installing the drivers again. If you do see it but it has the yellow dot, then that is where the fun starts!

Post back how you got on and we can go from there

It seems to be there and says it is working it had in brackets(com12) tried that still nothing
It also said Port_#0002.Hub_#0004

OK - go back into the properties of the comport through control panel

Check the driver version should be 6.6.1.0
Under the Port settings tab set the speed to 9600

Have you had wd on this machine before?
How did you get on with the scan in weatherlink?

Com12 is odd, but since they are all virtual ports after 1 and 2, if that's what it is, that's what it is
It's also odd that there is nothing written across the top of the WD window. Mine always says the version number at least, if it's working or not

Weather link is com port 11, tried that with WD nothing,What is the number beside Abort in the Data it changes fron 1 to 2 then back to 1
 Have inserted the top of WD window

also after you found the comport in weatherlink did you shut down weatherlink and then restart PC and make sure only WD starts up?

WL and WD don't play together so need to restart PC to stop WL hogging the comport.

That's a question for Brian (WeatherDisplay) or maybe TokWW might know that one. I've always wondered about that myself ;-)

Weatherlink works fine but after closing weather link and restarting PC still nothing

Resolved... Had in Com ports TCP/IP enabled incorrectly Thanks to every one for there help
