January 2013 Some pumice has arrived here at Norfolk Island 5 mths after the eruption in August 2012

Went for a walk down to one of our ocean beaches today and found some pumice with goose barnacles growing on it, I can only assume it is also from this same eruption of the Havre Seamount.
There were small rocks of the pumice all along the beach, not huge amounts but still easy to find. It can't have been there long - it was right at the top of the high tide mark as if it came in on the last few tides ( we have had some big tides recently so if it arrived earlier it would have been above the current high tide line ). The pumice seems to be a lot more brittle than what you pick up around Taupo, it is very easy to break.

If any one wants a bit of the pumice it might be appearing on an East Coast beach sometime soon ;) - and if you really, really want a piece I brought a few home so I could send you one
