Observation: Raining again. Rainfall This Month (3.5 days) 54.3 mm, Rainfall This Year to date (From 1 January) 1107.9 mm and this is after record rainfall for July of 416.4 mm. i think it is time to start calling it the big wet!

A showery Saturday is expected for many Kiwis today.

The very stubborn and slow-moving Tasman low will continue to keep our weather unsettled today. Auckland, Hamilton, and Dunedin are all looking at showers today. Wellington and Christchurch will also see some precipitation, although the chances in these two centres are better during the morning and evening hours. Both centres could see an extended break in the rain this afternoon.

Heavy rain warnings remain in effect for Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. Government forecaster MetService says peak intensities of 10-15mm/hr are possible before the heavy rain eases late this morning or early this afternoon.

Its been a mostly cloudy day, but better than expected with no rain so far. Charts are looking a bit better for tomorrow too so may get away another day...
