But when you use my Avg Sun &Air Temp avg for August its -1.1c on normal over all.

As with many above it has been a lovely day here on the east coast.
Need a week of this though to dry out the surface slush. Well thats what it sound like when you walk on our grass slush slush slush.
Since I cant mow the lawns I have put weed killer down instead today

The strengthening Tasman low is beginning to spread showers across the upper tip of the North Island early this morning.  The rest of the country should see a settled morning.  Although it will be quite foggy about parts of the North Island.  Hamilton residents can expect a morning much like yesterday.  If you plan on being out on the roads about the Waikato this morning, allow yourself some extra time to get to where you are going.

This afternoon, showers will begin to move into Auckland.  Late this afternoon, showers should move into Waikato and western Bay of Plenty.

Wellington is likely to remain settled for much of the day.  The South Island should also remain settled with the exception of Nelson and Invercargill.  But even there, the precipitation should hold off until after sunset.

Heavy rain is still a possibility with this incoming low.  The greatest threat for heavy rain today will be about Northland late this morning through tonight.  Government forecaster MetService has heavy rain warnings in effect.

With the exception of the far southeast, heavy rain is also possible for the rest of the North Island.  Also, the upper regions of the South Island.  However, these areas are likely to not see heavy rain until after sunset tonight.
