North Island, showers in the east from Wairarapa to East Cape, mostly fine elsewhere. Island, fine apart from morning cloud along the east coast, and a few showers in the south.

Sunday
North Island, showers in the east, the odd shower from South Taranaki down to Wellington, fine elsewhere. South Island, fine apart from a few showers in the south, some cloud along the east coast, and areas of low cloud or fog developing inland at night.

Monday
North Island, showers in the east and south, the odd shower from South Taranaki down to Kapiti, fine elsewhere. South Island, a few showers developing along the east and west coasts, mostly fine elsewhere, but some fog may linger in inland valleys.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy on Saturday with a few showers, with fresh southeasterlies turning southwest. Sunday brings increasing fine spells and strengthening southwesterlies. Southerlies easing on Monday.

This weekend the low that has plagued the North Island all week will continue to affect eastern areas, mainly about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay with brisk winds and a few showers, however it is moving away from New Zealand slowly so many other regions will see clearing skies and winds turning more southerly.
The southerly flow should help limit fog formation but a few patches are possible in the more usual areas, such as Waikato.

A ridge should bring mostly settled weather to the country tomorrow, still a chance of morning fog in many inland areas with light winds. Christchurch at this point in time looks like it'll be in for a foggy night as the southwesterly airflow just hasn't been enough to push some of this moisture in the air out of the way.

Areas to catch some cloud are north of Hawkes Bay along the east coast in a southwesterly airflow, perhaps the risk of a shower near Gisborne. The top of Northland may also pick up a few showers during the day in an east to southeasterly airflow there.

Finally Fiordland and Southland will catch some cloud and a few light showers during the day in a west to southwesterly airflow there. This pattern looks to continue through to Tuesday however Northland should escape any showers from Sunday.

Most of New Zealand should be looking at a dry and settled Sunday.  The area of high pressure that brought the dry weather in today will also be responsible for a nice day tomorrow.

There are a few chances for showers tomorrow.  Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne could see a few rogue showers.  Coastal sections of Southland could also see a few showers.  Chances are small though.  At the very least, these areas will probably not see as much sunshine as will the rest of the country.

Temperatures on Sunday should push into the lower and middle teens for highs in most areas.  Highs about Southland and Central Otago will struggle to reach the 10 degree mark once again.

This area of high pressure will be our main weather-maker for the next several days.  It looks like dry and settled weather will remain in place for both islands through Wednesday.  Rain chances arrive on the South Island on Thursday.  The high may keep the North Island dry through Friday.  But it looks like all of New Zealand will be into some rather unsettled weather by the time we get to next Saturday.
