Kapiti, Wellington and Wairarapa
Mainly fine, apart from morning cloud and rain developing at night.

Nelson and Marlborough
Mainly fine, but rain developing in the evening.

The remainder of the South Island
A band of rain spreading northwards during the day with a cold southerly change, followed by a few showers, some with hail in the south.

Chatham Islands
Occasional rain.
