We more or less have a his and hers toilet because of house layout, habits and lifestyle. When I replace the empty roll it's a matter of randomness, as I unwrap the roll, put it on the holder and then try to find where the start is. Just as a matter of interest, I checked all three out and all are in the "under style" category, so I've voted for that. As long as there's enough there to do the job at the time, there are enough other things in life to worry about than to lose any sleep over this (t)issue!  :)

Ah, but we aren't hardy people, here in the South Pacific, PaulMy! I take it that the seats are not warmed? :)

Just following on from what has been said above- by TonyC.  Very important to have sufficient toilets in a home. In fact you probably cannot have enough of them.

First of all I thought this was a debate about an infinitely long personal hygene product ... I'm disappointed.

The Romans of course used sponges, and had toilet blocks (latrines) where both sexes socialised and passed gossip. (amongst other things)

I don't think that's the same as passing a motion through parliament, but the way things are at the moment ....
Imagine what you will KNOW tomorrow

The reference to Parliament is probably appropriate. At some stage, didn't the Speaker have his own chamber pot nearby his Chair? Or is that an apocryphal tale? And to bring it back to the original topic, when modern toilet paper became available, did the Speaker have it hanging in, or out?

The Speaker may not take part nor unfairly affect the outcome, but is there to ensure motions are passed in an orderly fashion.

If by 'out' you mean nearest the player, then that is the beteljuice regime. The main crapper (Named after Thomas Crapper) is co-located with a bath, so 'In' with condensation makes sticking to the tiled wall a real possibility.

Plus the risk of bacteria etc coming off the walls onto the paper....it is a slippery slope.
