Waikato to Kapiti, including Taupo and Taihape
Mostly cloudy with showers, however, rain spreading north in the afternoon and evening with some heavy falls.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine with high cloud, but rain developing in Hawkes Bay in the evening.

Wellington, Wairarapa, and Marlborough
Mostly cloudy, with a few showers about Wellington and Marlborough. A period of rain in the morning or afternoon, possibly heavy. Severe northwest gales in exposed places, easing later in the day.

Nelson
Rain in the morning, clearing later in the afternoon.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Scattered rain clearing from the south, then mainly fine but showers about Otago and Southland.

Buller to Fiordland
Periods of rain, with some heavy and thundery falls.
