Northland to Taranaki, also Coromandel, and the central high country
Scattered showers clearing this morning then fine spells, but isolated showers developing this evening and turning to rain in Taranaki.

Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Fine.

Wanganui to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Fine at first. A few showers developing this afternoon, and turning to rain in Kapiti and Wellington later, possibly heavy.

Nelson and Marlborough
Fine at first. Rain developing this afternoon or evening, but remaining dry about the Kaikoura Coast.

Canterbury and Otago
Mostly fine, but rain at times near the main divide and brief rain about Otago this morning. Severe northwest gales about exposed parts of the Canterbury High Country.

Southland
Fine spells. A few showers in the west and south.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Periods of rain, with some heavy and possibly thundery falls.
