Northern and western areas from Northland to Kapiti
Mainly fine, but areas of cloud morning and night. Isolated afternoon showers possible in Northland.

Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Taihape, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Long fine spells. Isolated afternoon and evening showers, especially about the ranges where some may be heavy and thundery.

Wellington, Wairarapa and Marlborough
Cloudy periods. Patchy drizzle morning and night, especially about eastern coasts.

Nelson, Buller and Westland
Fine, apart from areas of cloud morning and night. Isolated afternoon showers about the ranges.

Canterbury and Otago
Mostly cloudy in the east, with patchy drizzle. Long fine spells further inland, especially in Central Otago.

Southland and Fiordland
Areas of cloud and isolated showers, mainly near the south coast, gradually clearing this morning then fine.

Chatham Islands
A few showers.
