•   TonyC: There's some odd readings on the live map for Burwood and Darfield rain totals. Their sites show nothing like the map is showing.
 November 17, 2014, 10:29:57 PM
•   ato2: A glitch of some kind?
 November 17, 2014, 10:32:37 PM
•   ato2: reporting time error?
 November 17, 2014, 10:33:02 PM
•   TonyC: Maybe they're using stations which put out a different data file?
 November 17, 2014, 10:39:17 PM
•   JennyLeez: I have just checked off Burwood against his realtime.txt. The Map is incorrect. e.g 1% hum and realtime 85. I see the realtime has .00 instead of .0 but I would not have thought that would muck up the count. I will message Mr Burwood
 November 17, 2014, 11:01:33 PM
•   JennyLeez: Darfield is also incorrect 312% humidity and 0.0 pressure
 November 17, 2014, 11:02:12 PM
•   philipgm: I have been checking the map info for Burwood and there is nothing there that relates to the real data. Don't know where to start to figure it out. Hmmmm!
 November 19, 2014, 10:58:10 AM
•   JennyLeez: I will go through the cumulus settings. David do you know where the settings for the hPa are. Phil's realtime has double 00 after the dot.
 November 19, 2014, 11:20:10 AM
•   David: Davis stations report pressure to 2 decimals
 November 19, 2014, 11:23:55 AM
•   David: that's normal, don't think you can alter how many decimals in cumulus
 November 19, 2014, 11:24:43 AM
•   JennyLeez: No normal is 1 decimal in realtime.txt David. I am looking
 November 19, 2014, 11:27:53 AM
•   David: My realtime.txt has 2 decimals
 November 19, 2014, 11:31:56 AM
•   David: The number of decimals in the realtime depends on the number of decimals reported by the weather station
 November 19, 2014, 11:32:22 AM
•   David: (PS, the realtime I have provided for the map is build using PHP, so I have rounded the value to one decimal place manually)
 November 19, 2014, 11:33:04 AM
•   JennyLeez: Your realtime is weird though....  lol... sorry just joking  But yes I see that. So how. Cant find an answer as yet.
 November 19, 2014, 11:34:00 AM
•   JennyLeez: Might head over to the author for this one. Cant find anything pertaining to this in cumulus itself.
 November 19, 2014, 11:34:58 AM
•   David: You would have to ask on cumulus forum. May I ask why you it matters though? lol
 November 19, 2014, 11:35:12 AM
•   JennyLeez: touche
 November 19, 2014, 11:35:27 AM
•   JennyLeez: Because for some reason the Map script is reporting Phil's conditions incorrect. When I compared his with the norm the only thing different was the hPa double decimal. I know it should not matter, grasping at straws here.
 November 19, 2014, 11:38:21 AM
•   JennyLeez: The data Summary script is fine though, but they are different.
 November 19, 2014, 11:38:59 AM
•   David: hmm, strange.
 November 19, 2014, 11:39:57 AM
•   JennyLeez: Lots of bits of paper here. Realtime correct. values on map correct but scrambled   I give up can not find a pattern.
 November 19, 2014, 12:33:53 PM
•   TonyC: Is the Burwood and Darfield realtime being produced by the same php script? Perhaps the map is interpeting something as non numeric and skipping over too early .
 November 20, 2014, 08:05:31 AM
•   JennyLeez: Burwood's is the standard Cumulus upload. Darfield's is tinkered with like Davids.
 November 20, 2014, 11:22:05 AM
•   JennyLeez: Custom made like.
 November 20, 2014, 11:22:20 AM
•   TonyC: @Jenny:Did you have any luck with the map author? I notice Waikawa Beach is another one!
•   TonyC: Cumulus seems to be the common link, but the discrepancy varies for each one. Fascinating!
•   JennyLeez: Now now you leave Cumulus alone...lol actually the common link is the Map script as the Data Summary Script is spot on. My head is also going down that track.

and Waikawa Beach also has double decimal, is that what you mean Tony.

This could well be the issue.
The Map script needs to round off the pressure reading to 1 decimal me thinks.

Question is now on Cumulus Forum. So we wait.

Cheers

Just checking - do we have the latest version of the map script?

Would applying that now just confuse things?

Well not good news from the author of the cumulus Software:

Quote
No, sorry. The VP2 is capable of pressure to 2 decimal places (in mb/hPa) so that's what Cumulus displays. I have tried to use the correct number of decimal places for each item, depending on the station type. In the replacement for Cumulus that I am developing, I am (eventually) going to make the number of decimal places for each item configurable, so it will no longer be my responsibility to use what I believe is a sensible number of places.

Next step I guess is to make contact with the author of the Map script and see if this double decimal  scenario we have could be causing the Map to read the data incorrectly.

When I compare the realtime.txt data with the data on the map for my station there is nothing that relates to the other. If the map was reading data after skipping a bit or two I would think that I could see a pattern. But there is none. Very strange.
