A low pressure system lies over the North Island today bringing showers to many regions, some areas may remain dry however. About the South Island conditions are fairly with northeasterlies in the east and southwesterlies in the west, a few showers catch Marlborough however.

Northland
Early rain eases to the odd shower with southwesterly breezes, a few brief sunny spells at times too.
Highs: 18-19

Auckland
Sunny spells, light winds tend southerly. Showers at times a few of which could be heavy in the afternoon then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 18-19

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Sunny spells, showers at times about the Bay Of Plenty also. Dry at first about the Waikato however showers from afternoon possibly heavy with thunderstorms then clearing in the evening. Easterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Central North Island
Sunny spells with east to northeast breezes, isolated showers develop in the afternoon some heavy with thunderstorms then clearing in the evening. Clear skies overnight although there is the potential for a fog patch or two to form.
Highs: 17-18

Eastern North Island
Showers with east to northeast breezes, showers clear later in the evening with winds becoming light.
Highs: 17-18

Taranaki & Manawatu
Sunny spells with light southeasterlies, breezy about the southern Taranaki coastline, isolated showers in the afternoon especially inland with a chance of thunderstorms then clearing evening.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (Kapiti)
Sunny spells with breezy southeasterlies for much of the day, southern parts of the region may have cloud and showers at times spreading from the east.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington
Cloudy with periods of rain, easing afternoon then clearing at night. Brisk south to southeasterly winds ease overnight.
Highs: 16-17

Nelson
Sunny spells with southeasterly breezes which ease overnight.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough
Periods of rain ease in the evening then clear at night, breezy south to southeasterly winds ease overnight also.
High: 17-18

Canterbury
Cloudy areas to start but sunny spells in the afternoon, east to northeast breezes. Areas of cloud more persistent about parts of North Canterbury and there may be a shower or drizzle patch near the coast, the Kaikoura coast is a good candidate for this.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southwest in the afternoon near the coast. Warmer temperatures slightly inland.
Highs: 20-22

Coastal Otago
Sunny spells with northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 19-21

Central Otago
Mainly sunny with light winds. A warm afternoon.
Highs: 25-28

Southland
Sunny spells and some cloud with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-19
