A northerly airflow slowly builds over New Zealand today. The North Island is mostly sunny and settled while in the South Island conditions are sunny out east. In the west expect cloud and drizzle, some rain about Fiordland late afternoon onwards.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny at first, a few clouds drift in from afternoon with northeasterly breezes. Later in the evening or overnight the odd light shower moves in.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon about the Waikato. A bit more cloud about the Bay Of Plenty and Central North Island but sunny spells still about, northerly winds with cloud increasing late afternoon onwards and there is the chance of a light evening shower.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with northeasterly breezes in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-21

Western North Island
Mainly sunny after any early cloud clears, light winds tend westerly in the afternoon south of Taranaki. For Taranaki, especially in the north expect northerly breezes, some cloud develops later in the evening.

Wellington
Mainly sunny with northerly winds becoming brisk in the afternoon.
High: 16

Nelson
Sunny with a few clouds about, northeastely winds in the afternoon.

Marlborough
Sunny with northerly breezes, high cloud later in the evening.

Canterbury
Sunny with northerly breezes inland, northeasterlies near the coast. Some high cloud later in the day.
Highs: 20-22

West Coast
Cloudy periods with northeasterly breezes, drizzle patches at times. Rain about Fiordland from late afternoon, a few areas of rain move further north later in the evening.

Sunny with some high cloud, north to northeasterly breezes.
