A key concept of the forum is that decisions about how it functions are made via consensus. When it comes to moderation of posts, consensus is reached by agreement of moderators (min group of 3 senior members), via referral of posts from members like yourselves. Here's how the process works:
1: Users and Moderators are active in reviewing all posts
2: A user or moderator spots a post that doesn't fit within the posting guidelines, and refers it to the moderator team for review. In the short term the post is removed from public view
3: The moderator team makes a consensus decision about the post
4: If the content is deemed inappropriate it is removed permanently and the poster and person raising the complaint are advised of the outcome. Where appropriate additional penalties may be applied such as suspension from the forum for a period of days
5: If the content is deemed apropriate it is reinstated and the poster and person raising the complaint are advised of the outcome
6: Moderators reserve the right to edit and modify posts immediately if the wording used is likely to offend someone or is believed to be fictitious and/or against site rules provided the post has good relevance to the Thread. Otherwise Rule 2 is followed. A follow up with the Member, after Moderators have convened, will take place.
Moderator decisons during the moderation process are based around the terms of use, and interpretation of whether a reasonable person would find the posted content offensive. To preserve the intended good nature of the forum (and bearing in mind that there is no age restriction on membership to the forum), where in doubt moderators will err on the side of caution when making moderation decisions.
Note that decisions made by the moderation team are final, and once made will not be discussed further. It's expected that some will disagree with the decisions of the moderation team, however as in life, not everything will go your way
