Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WIND AND SURF
for Norfolk Island.

Issued at 3:51 pm EST on Tuesday 4 June 2013.

Weather Situation

A low pressure system about 500 km to the south-southeast from the Island is
moving rapidly towards New Zealand.

Damaging winds averaging up to 35 knots (65 km/h) with peak gusts up to 50
knots (93 km/h).

Very heavy surf which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is
forecast for southwest facing coastal parts.
The Norfolk Island Police advise that you:

* Stay indoors away from windows and keep children indoors.
  - * Stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas.
For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the Norfolk Island Police on 977.
The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EST Tuesday 4 June 2013..

This warning is available through Radio broadcasts and the Bureau's website at
www.bom.gov.au. All Ocean Wind Warnings for the Norfolk Island region are
issued by the New Zealand Met Service, are also available on the Bureau's
website.
