Monster snowfall traps Russian drivers in giant traffic jam
« on: December 04, 2012, 06:11:47 AM »
Traffic was backed up for as much as 120 miles (200 km) along the Rossiya federal highway  connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Efforts continued on December 2 to cope with the aftermath of a major snowstorm that struck the Tver, Novgorod, and Leningrad regions of European Russia.

Authorities set up feeding stations along the route to help get food to stranded travelers.

Bus service between Moscow and St. Petersburg has been canceled.

As much as 16 inches (40 cm) of snow fell in Tver on November 30 and December 1.
