An overnight low of 3.8ºC currently 5.9ºC and rising nicely.  Mainly clear blue sky but some light flat cumulus are being pushed inland from the coast in lines.   Soueasterly of 5km/hr sometimes gusting to 12km/hr.  Birds are churping, cat wants back inside...  strange!!

Should be a great day, but they can be so changeable in the afternoon as some heavy clouds arrive from nowhere... and break up the sunshine.

Mostly sunny and settled in the North Island, southeasterly winds will tend more east to northeast as the day progresses. In the morning there may be a few showers about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne however they will clear then sunny breaks will increase, there may also be some cloud to start about Northland however it should also clear.
Conditions for fog about the Waikato and Central North Island are good overnight Friday into Saturday, there is a chance it may get into Auckland for a time.

In the South Island cloud will spread north along the West Coast during the day with drizzle in Fiordland from afternoon, northeasterly breezes increase. On the east coast conditions will be mostly sunny with some cloud particularly in the morning, northeasterly breezes will be quite brisk however especially in Canterbury. Sunny weather and some high cloud in Southland, northerly breezes. Sunny in Nelson with light northerlies, a little cloud may drift in from evening.

17 to 18 degrees can be expected about the Bay Of Plenty and Waikato northwards today, also along the west coast from Taranaki through to Kapiti. 14 to 15 degree high’s in most other places however Napier and Gisborne will likely stay in the low double figure range. 13 to 14 degrees for most in the South Island today although about Southland 16 degree high’s are likely. Temperatures in the mid teens for Nelson and Hokitika northwards along the West Coast.

The weather still isn’t too exciting today however it is nice and pleasant in some regions which at times can be excitement enough. Of course exciting weather may depend on what you are up too.

Temperatures in Wanganui, the Bay Of Plenty and Waikato northwards are floating between 16 to 18 degrees, winds are fairly light and there is plenty of sun which is fantastic. A bit cool on the east coast of the North Island with easterlies and some cloud.

In the South Island winds are lightest about Nelson and Hokitika northwards along the West Coast, also in Southland. Invercargill and Nelson take out the top temperatures in the south at the moment with both sitting on 15.5 degrees. Along the east coast it’s a bit cool with northeasterly winds making it a bit of a blah day especially in the likes of Kaikoura and Christchurch where the wind is peaking at 40 km/h at times but mostly averaging at 20 km/h.

High cloud is spreading across the lower south due to an approaching front and areas of drizzle will be entering Fiordland at the moment.

There is potential for fog tonight from Auckland down through much of the island, the biggest fog candidates being the Waikato and the Central North Island as it is more sheltered.
