The morning has not really improved since TokWW's report. 10dg, foggy, light breeze 0 to 2.2kms from the NW. Rain radar clear for a change, lets hope it stays that way for the day. We may even get some sun once the fog breaks up

Pretty good day up here after the morning showers had gone, plenty of sunshine but a max of only 14.4°C, currently 8.7°C
Ground outside is completely sodden, more rain tomorrow expected so won't get any better - or worse really.

Eastern parts of the North Island from Wellington through to East Cape remaining dry today with sunny weather, winds will be light. Any morning showers about Auckland clearing then sunny periods with southwesterly breezes, a few isolated showers may develop in the afternoon however. In Northland expect cloudy and sunny areas, a few showers at times mainly in the morning with breezy southwesterlies.
Cloudy and sunny periods about Taranaki, the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Central North Island with light winds after any morning fog clears, a few showers develop in the afternoon mainly in the west clearing in the evening. Mainly dry with some cloud about the Kapiti Coast with north to northwesterly breezes, low risk of a late afternoon shower.
Temperatures in the mid teens along the east coast, also about the Bay of Plenty and north of Auckland. Perhaps a degree or two higher about Gisborne and parts of Northland. 13 to 14 can be expected in the west and about the Central North Island.
Mostly cloudy on the West Coast, in Buller and Tasman with light north to northwesterly winds, a few showers at times mainly north of the Glaciers. Some high cloud in Nelson and Marlborough with light winds, sunny periods increasing in the afternoon. In Canterbury and Otago expect some cloud with the chance of a few morning showers, sunny breaks develop by midday with light winds. In the afternoon there is the risk of an isolated shower mainly inland in Canterbury. Mostly sunny in Southland with light winds and some cloud.
High’s of 14 degrees on average for most, a degree or two cooler about Central Otago and parts of South Westland.

Just a few showers today

As we sit between lows today, most areas are actually going to get a break in the rain.
But the word "most" is important here. Rain won't be widespread or heavy today, but it won't be gone completely either.
A weak little trough of unstable air will move across the North Island today. That will bring a chance for showers to the western sections of the island. Lower Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Taranaki could all see a few showers today. It should be dry more than it wet today and whatever falls should be pretty light.
The eastern sections of the island could also see a few showers, but anything that develop will be so hit and miss that the chances of any one area getting wet are very small.
A few Mainlanders could also see some showers today. The far upper regions of the South Island stands the best chance of seeing showers. But even here, the chances aren’t all that great to begin with.
This will all chance tomorrow as a new low makes its way across the Tasman. It will bring widespread rain to the North Island and much of the South Island as we work our way through tomorrow and on into Wednesday.
