Southern Ocean low heading towards NZ

A large low pressure system in the Southern Ocean looks likely to give New Zealand its next taste of chaotic Autumn weather with WeatherWatch.co.nz saying this next low packs wind, rain and maybe thunder.

The low is expected to move into the Tasman Sea around Sunday.  Ahead of this next low are warm west to north west winds - which will push both daytime and nighttime temperatures up across the country and make any frosts highly unlikely for a number of days.

The rain clouds will push into the West Coast late on Saturday then into the North Island's west during Sunday.  Winds in Wellington and other exposed parts of central and eastern New Zealand are likely to reach gale force at times.....

this next low packs wind, rain

not many lows that do not pack wind and rain
just a normal for time of year low pressure system
personaly I dont like this sensationlist type of stuff
Does it really need to be re broad cast here?
i.e if I want to read that I can do to weather watch?
just my thoughts
what other thoughts?

Yep Metservice have that below right for sure as has settled in well and truly this evening.
This evening so far:
Nuhaka 19.3
Taylors Bay, Mahia West 10.9
Mahia Beach 22.5
Wairoa 10.2

HEAVY RAIN AND SOUTHWEST GALES ABOUT PARTS OF COASTAL HAWKES BAY
EASING EARLY SATURDAY.
HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED FOR FIORDLAND AND SOUTH WESTLAND.

A low east of Gisborne is directing a strong moist southerly flow
over coastal and northern Hawkes Bay, bringing rain to these areas.
The heaviest falls are expected about the coast south of Cape
Kidnappers, and eastern parts of the Wairoa District tonight (Friday)
and early Saturday morning.  Total rainfall amounts over these areas
may fall short of warning criteria, however there are likely to be
localised significant accumulations about the hill country east of
Wairoa.  Southwest gales are also likely about eastern parts of the
Wairoa District, and this Watch is for the possibility of severe gale
gusts there.

During Saturday morning, the low should move away to the east and
winds and rain should ease.

Also of note, a unsettled northwesterly flow is forecast for
Fiordland and Westland from Saturday afternoon through to midday
Sunday.  This Watch is for periods of heavy, thundery rain in
Fiordland and Westland south of Glaciers during this time.  Rainfall
in these areas may approach warning amounts.
