Samsung Galaxy S III said to be quad-core phone
Quad-core speculations reemerge once more, as we eagerly await the phone's expected unveiling on May 3.

Samsung's "Mobile Unpack" event in London is only a few weeks away, and many of us here at CNET can hardly wait--especially when it comes to the debut of the Galaxy S III (or whatever the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S II will be called).
Past ruumors have already suggest a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and eye-tracking.
In addition, previous speculation of a quad-core Exynos chipset have been recently corroborated.
According to the Verge, a source has confirmed that the Galaxy S III will indeed sport a quad-core processor.
"We haven't gotten a lock on exactly which quad-core processor will be in this phone," it reported, "but it seems like a reasonable guess that it'll be the same 32nm Cortex-A9 based Exynos teased earlier this year."
The chipset is said to quicken processor and camera speeds, as well as improve battery life.
From a ceramic casing to a TouchWhiz skin, keep up with all Galaxy S III rumors with our buddies at CNET UK.

Galaxy S III pricing from Vodafone - updated
By Contributor, Thursday, 24th May, 2012

Following the opening announcement from Telecom earlier this week, Vodafone has revealed its pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S III, the latest competitor to the almighty iPhone set to go on sale next week.

Although the company will offer a few promotional handsets for free on its Smart Data 90 plan, the standard minimum for customers who don’t want to pay for the device will be a 24-month contract on the $120 per month Smart Data 120 plan.

Vodafone’s ace is a promotional competition to win a $270,000 space travel prize, although we haven’t been able to get hold of the company’s media team to confirm the details of this offering. We’ll post an update when we know more.

Update: A Vodafone representative says every New Zealand buyer of the Galaxy S III will be entered into the competition, which includes travel expenses to the launch location and two days of space training with ‘a leading and trusted provider’. Entries will be open from May 31, when the Galaxy S III goes on sale, to July 15; pre-orders officially open tomorrow, and Vodafone’s website will be updated with more details then.

Meanwhile, TechDay has received our Galaxy S III review unit, and we’ll be posting a full assessment soon.

Aggressive Galaxy S III move from 2degrees - updated

Update: Telecom has dropped its pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S III, which is hitting the market today.

The minimum contract which buyers will have to sign up for in order to get the phone for free will now be $100 per month, down from $120. Customers can also get the device for $199 upfront on an $80 plan.

Telecom was in danger of being left behind on the Galaxy, with Vodafone offering buyers a shot at a unique space travel prize and 2degrees announcing aggressive pricing just yesterday.

Story: Just a day before the device is set to go on the market, 2degrees has announced its pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S III, offering the handset free for customers who sign up for a two year contract on an $89 Pay Monthly or Business plan.

That’s just under what Vodafone will offer as a launch special ($90 per month) and well under what both Vodafone and Telecom will offer as standard pricing ($120 per month).

2degrees says the device will also support mobile payments through its Touch2Pay joint venture with Snapper Mobile, currently available in Wellington only.

Eric Hertz, CEO of 2degrees, describes the Galaxy S III as ‘another step forward in the mission to deliver top-quality devices’.

‘”We are delighted to be ranging 2012’s most eagerly-awaited Android smartphone,” Hertz says, "so we are launching with deals that offer exceptional value.”

All providers are offering the device for the standard $1049 for non-contract customers.
