Northland to Waitomo, also Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and the central high country
Areas of morning cloud, then mainly fine. Drizzle patches at night.

Taranaki to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Fine spells, however drizzle patches developing in Taranaki, Kapiti and Wellington. Northwesterlies rising to severe gale in exposed parts of Wellington and southern Wairarapa.

Hawkes Bay, Gisborne
Fine.

Marlborough, Nelson
Mostly fine, however rain developing at night. Northwesterlies rising to severe gale in exposed parts of Marlborough.

Buller, Westland, Fiordland
Rain spreading north during the day with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms. Severe northwest gales in exposed parts of Fiordland easing early afternoon.

Canterbury, Otago, Southland
Rain developing in Southland during the morning, followed by few showers. Elsewhere, high cloud, but brief afternoon or evening showers. Northwest gales, severe in exposed inland places, easing from the south.

Chatham Islands
Fine spells.
