Overcast all day with periods of drizzle and light rain this morning and tonight, just 6.6mm of rain so far though. The low cloud lifted for a period through the middle of the day so we could see the Kaimai's but returned in the later afternoon. Wind direction started out as a pretty solid but not spectacular South Easterly and has slowly drifted towards an Easterly all day and is now making the odd foray towards the North East and falling back as far as SSE. Wind gusts started the day way up on last nights less than 5 km/hr in the 25 - 35 km/hr range with todays max gust of 38 km/hr recorded at 2:20, but this was almost topped this afternoon as wind gusts increased by around 5km/hr on average over the earlier hours of the day with a Max gust this afternoon of 36 km/hr but they have crashed back to under 10 km/hr after 18:00 this evening. The Barometer has continued its almost straight line decline of yesterday afternoon and at one time if was going down at -1.7 hPa/hr and has now fallen to 995.3 hPa but is showing signs of bottoming out in the last hour or so, our sister station at Te Puke is even lower at 993.5 hPa and at one stage this afternoon was dropping at -1.8 hPa/hr. As you might have expected in these weather conditions the outdoor Humidity only dropped off 99% for a brief period in the middle of the day but did get down as far at 80% very briefly.
