It's Spring so it must be snow
« on: March 11, 2013, 10:27:38 AM »
It was snowing this morning until I covered the car, and then it changed to a bitterly cold NE wind which attempted to rip the car cover off. It looked like an unequal battle, so I removed the car cover and resigned myself to digging out the car in the morning. We are destined to have a lot more cold weather, more snow and more nasty cold winds over the coming week. The sun block salesmen, will be bankrupt if they are relying on UK sales.

Good to hear from you Robert.  That certainly does not sound like Spring to me.  You have certainly had it rough over there this year too and will not be getting back into your garden for sometime yet by the sound of it.  Your frogs should be making an appearance soon but judging by your weather it may be a bit longer yet.

It's minus 2 today and has just started snowing again but a complete whiteout as the wind has created a blizzard. I suddenly realized that I could not see past the front garden and thought at first that it was fog. I doubt that we will have enough to cause any significant traction problems but attempting to drive through it could be disastrous, so I hope that drivers do not make any sudden moves because visibility was at times, almost zero.
The frogs had started their courtship and grabbed their partners for the first dance, but have now gone back into hibernation because the band stopped playing and the spotlight faded. The fish were eating ravenously one day and then on a strict diet again but the Blackbird couldn't give a hoot and has continued bathing in the pond and building his nest.

The wind is howling  and it is bitterly cold, but the above link will give you some idea what it is like in the rest of the UK at this moment. Locally we only have a light covering of snow in the areas the wind has blown it to but it is not the sort of day you would want to be outside.

Yo what horrid weather :(
Thanks for reports and links. Make me appreciate the comfortable weather we have had for many weeks now.
Maybe it is time to come visit NZ again :)
