A lousy UK Spring

Fortunately the blackbirds and several other species have predicted the weather, and are only rearing one youngster at a time. Unfortunately frogs and toads have had their food supply devastated by the weather, and many are dead or dying from starvation. Tadpole development has slowed to a crawl and it could prove to be a major problem for those that do develop, to grow large enough to survive the winter. The weather is predicted to improve but insect populations are extremely low at the moment. Hopefully things will improve.

Once again forecast from "Piers" (can't remember which Piers) has been rendered nonsensical. It's now a good chance that the May 2012 CET will be about normal with the recent drastic warmup. It's a very bad idea to pronounce a verdict on a month when it's barely 10 days old.
