Showers becoming confined to western Northland and Coromandel overnight but isolated elsewhere.

Bay of Plenty and Waitomo to Horowhenua, including the central high country
Long fine periods. Scattered showers developing in the afternoon, especially about south Taranaki and Wanganui.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Wellington and Kapiti
Occasional showers, some heavy with hail, falling as snow above 400 to 500 metres.

Marlborough apart from the Kaikoura Coast and Nelson to northern Fiordland
Fine.

Kaikoura Coast to North Otago
Occasional showers or snow. Showers clearing south of Ashburton in the morning and the snow level lifting to 400 metres.

Remainder of Otago, Southland and southern Fiordland
Sleety showers or snow, retreating to the coast overnight and clearing in the morning.

Chatham Islands
Showers developing again overnight into Monday.
