Rain developing this morning with brief heavy falls.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Increasing high cloud, with light rain spreading north from afternoon.

Horowhenua to Wellington, also Wairarapa, Marlborough and Nelson
Rain, with heavy falls about the ranges, gradually clearing from the south today. Severe northwest gales about Wellington and southern Wairarapa easing this afternoon.

Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Rain at times, heavy and possibly thundery.

Canterbury and Otago
Fine, apart from a few spots of rain about the Southern Lakes and Clutha District from afternoon.

Southland
Mainly fine this morning, then patchy rain from afternoon.
