Scattered showers, becoming widespread in the west with isolated thunderstorms there from afternoon.

Waitomo to Kapiti, including the central high country, also Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Scattered showers, with thunderstorms inland during the afternoon and evening.

Wellington and Wairarapa
Areas of cloud and a few drizzle patches. Showers developing mainly inland this afternoon, with possible thunderstorms.

All the South Island, except Fiordland
Mostly cloudy about the north Canterbury and Marlborough coasts, otherwise mainly fine. Isolated showers inland this afternoon and evening, some thundery in the north.
