A settled day is set most of the North Island.  High pressure will do its best to keep things dry.  The only places it may fail is about Taranaki and the Bay of Plenty where a few showers are possible.

Otherwise, look for a mild and dry day for the NI.  Highs will range from the mid teens for Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington to around 20 for Tauranga despite the small risk for showers there.

On the South Island, the eastern sections will be dry and settled.  Christchurch and Dunedin will see highs in the mid teens with a fair amount of clouds mixed in with the sunshine.

On the west side of the island, it’s a very different story.  A potent front will bring rain Fiordland and the West Coast.  Government forecaster MetService has issued heavy rain warnings for all of Fiordland and the Westland ranges south of Otira/Arthurs Pass.

We were fog bound here in the Waikato this morning.  But once the fog lifted, we were left with plenty of sunshine and just enough clouds to landscape the sky.

Many parts of New Zealand have been seeing similar weather today.  Auckland and Christchurch had plenty of sunshine early this afternoon.

However, Dunedin and Wellington were reporting cloudy skies.

There was even some precipitation being reported.  New Plymouth, Nelson and Westport were all reporting rain early this afternoon.

Temperatures were ranged from 12 at Nelson to 19 at Hamilton and Matamata.
