Shout Box
« on: February 13, 2012, 08:34:04 AM »
Just a brief question...how far back in time does the Shout Box history display?

Why I ask is, that I found I couldn't go back far enough to see if anyone had responded to something that I had said last night.
Is there an obvious setting that I have missed?

Thanks

@ato2 - sorry Tom - I think it is only a 30mins period.  You may have to ask the question again or wait until appropriate person is back on the board.  There is also a similar time limit placed on the ChatBox as well.

Yes something we could ask the writer of that plugin for is more lines in his next release.
Tom put questions under Q & A and then wont get lost plus good for others to be able to read if have the same problem.

Ok all requests so far last day or so have been we need a larger history in the shout box.

Now come on guys at least we have it back...lol

Ok this can not be increased with this Chat/Shout plugin but one of us will make contact with the owner of this plugin and request this be increased with the next release or maybe look for an alternative.

Meanwhile put Chat up. It opens separate so you can see both windows at the same time.
Chat does keep a larger history.
I will leave mine open but its Monday so I am backwards and forwards.

Correct it made no difference. Admin is trialling a second shout box at present.
Can show as many lines as wish.  Can also view whole history which loads up down page.

Downside is we may lose chat room as the shout box in place at present came with the chat room.

The new one sits a the top as this one does. But it has an never ending history :)

It also can be opened to consume the center of the page.  ( The new layout has an xtra column on the left side.)
So I guess it doubles for chat.
It is much faster and no errors :)
