Name your favourite - Weather Provider
« on: November 07, 2013, 10:33:56 PM »
We all have our favourite. Interested to know what the general consensus is on favourite short term forecasters. Who do you go to first for a weather forecast?

Cheers, Andrew

Metservice, but I often look at the models quite a lot to get my own opinion as well. Most frequently I use http://nz.bsch.com.au/stormcast.html

I use Weatherzone for Kaikoura (60kms as the seagull flies). I find it pretty accurate. The most inaccurate would have to be TV ONE news!

I use MS rain radar and mslp maps for short term together with my own WS Wxsim forecast.  Wxsim has been better for me in our district than MS specific forecasts.  For further out, I tend to use Wxsim plus mslp/moisture from MetVUW, and this usually over SW Pacific which includes whole of AU plus NZ.
