families are being rescued from deep drifts in the English Peak District as the country braces for its biggest snowstorms iAs reported by the BBC, no less (admittedly regional, but still…), dozens of people, including a two-year-old child, had to be rescued when their vehicles became stranded in deep snow on the roads of the Derbyshire Peak District.

Police and volunteers came to the aid of multiple families on Saturday evening, with similar scenes reported elsewhere in the country, including the 22 people that required rescuing in the neighboring county of Cheshire.

At around 20:00 GMT on Saturday, Derbyshire Police reported “sudden snow” had left dozens of vehicles and their occupants stranded in the Goyt Valley — many were caught off-guard by how quickly the weather changed, reads the BBC article.n a decade+.

Usually, it's the neighbours that come knocking, however, a huge snow wall has formed outside the front door of this Moray family's home - completely blocking access.

The Robertsons from Glenrinnes have watched as snow crept closer towards their home over the last few days.

And now, after several heavy drifts, the family are now unable to use their front door.

Mum Laurie Robertson took to social media to share images of the entrance to her house completely blocked.

Mrs Robertson said: "We are up one of the back roads so if there is snow, more often than not its drifts if there is any wind.

Thames has frozen over for the first time in 60 years.

The Irish sea turned to ice and the Thames froze over for the first time in 60 years after temperatures in Britain plunged to record lows.

Seagulls perched on the frozen river's surface at Teddington, south west London, on Friday as it iced over for the first time since Britain's Big Freeze in 1963. And even the waves on Aldingham beach in Cumbria ground to a halt as the mercury plummeted.

Temperatures in Ravensworth, North Yorkshire, dropped to minus 15.3C overnight on Thursday, a record February low for England. And the cold snap looks set to continue as bookies slashed the odds on Valentine's day being the coldest on record to 7/2.

Images of what appears to be a hovering ship have been captured as the result of a rare optical illusion off the coast of England.

David Morris took a photo of the ship near Falmouth, Cornwall.

BBC meteorologist David Braine said the "superior mirage" occurred because of "special atmospheric conditions that bend light".

He said the illusion is common in the Arctic, but can appear "very rarely" in the UK during winter.

“INSANE DEPTH OF COLD” TO BLAST BRITAIN
« Reply #4 on: April 05, 2021, 06:37:07 PM »
An “insane depth of cold” is set to strike the UK over the Easter weekend, warns the Weather Outlook’s Brian Gaze.

Freezing temperatures and frosts will arrive in Scotland on Thursday, April 1, with “polar spring” conditions engulfing the majority of the country by Good Friday.

Looking further ahead, the mercury is expected to sink even lower during the following week, as a violent kink in the jet stream (associated with the historically low solar activity we continue to experience) delivers Arctic air to the lower-latitudes.

Thermometers could sink to -10C (14F) in northern parts, which would topple all-time daily cold records.

The UK’s lowest-ever recorded temperature for April 5, for example, is the -9C (15.8F) set in 1990, while 1935’s -8.9C (16F) for April 7 could also tumble. In fact, most of the daily benchmarks between early-to-mid April are under threat, including some that have stood for more than a century.

What’s about the hit the UK (as well as western/northern Europe) looks unprecedented, and it’s arriving during a key time of the growing season, too — expect significant crop losses moving forward.

The freezing conditions aren’t fleeting either (unlike the two days of warmth on Mon and Tue); no, the Arctic looks set to park itself anomalously-far south for at least the first-half of April, with latest GFS runs revealing temps will only drop further as the month progresses.

April 13 (shown below) appears particularly cold, with -10C (14F) again possible in northern parts–a reading that would break the UK’s coldest-ever temperature for the date, which stands as the -9.2C (15.4F) set way back in 1890 (note: this particular forecast is a way off, we’ll have to wait and see if it materializes).

ENGLAND'S COLDEST APRIL SINCE 1922
« Reply #5 on: April 22, 2021, 07:15:41 AM »
Despite the cherry-picking, the UHI-sidestepping, and the unrelenting propaganda, the British Isles simply won't heat up — the UK's agenda-shoveling Met Office has admitted as much themselves.

Recently, one of the Met Office's key data sets revealed that the 2010s actually came out cooler than the 2000s — a fact that goes against ALL mainstream logic: we were told average temperatures would rise "linearly," always up and up and up on an endless march to catastrophe if no poverty-inducing action was taken...

The Central England Temperature record (CET) measures the monthly mean surface air temperatures for the Midlands region of England. It is the longest series of monthly temperature observations in existence anywhere in the world, with data extending all the way back to the year 1659.

The CET's mean reading for April, 2021 (to the 18th) is sitting at just 5.8C — that's 1.5C below the 1961-1990 average (the current standard period of reference for climatological data used by the WMO-an historically cool era btw), and ranks as the coldest April since 1922, and the 18th coldest since records began 362 years ago.

GERMANY'S CHILLIEST SINCE 1917

With a mean temperature just of 4.5C, Germany is faring even worse than England — it is on for second coldest April since records began in 1881, and its coldest since 1917, according to German DWD national weather service records.

Met Office says UK has seen coldest April since 1922
« Reply #6 on: May 03, 2021, 07:03:17 AM »
Met Office confirms it has been the coldest April for almost 100 years .
THIS month was the coldest April for almost a century, UK weather experts have said.

The Met Office says frost and clear conditions combined for a chilly month, despite long spells of sunshine.

Provisional figures from the Met Office's National Climate Information Centre show April had the third lowest average temperature since records began back in 1884.

In fact, the average temperature in April was the lowest seen in Britain since 1922.

With just days left until the start of June, Scotland was hit by snow.

And while we all wait for summer to finally arrive, forecasters have warned we're on course for the coldest May in more than 40 years.

Srdjan Lulic found himself a bit exposed at the Cairngorm National Park, near Aviemore, Inverness-shire, as he headed out for a stroll with girlfriend Catherine Stewart, of Edinburgh.

Another driver had to clear a mound of snow from his windscreen, which had built up overnight.

Catherine said: "We'd planned on going for a walk to the summit of Ben Macdui but I think we will be limited to the lower slopes as there looks like there is a lot of snow on the higher ground..

After a relatively mild month, September in the UK is being capped-off with freezing lows and rare snows — another example of the ‘swings between extremes‘ expected during times of reduced solar output.

The mercury across the home nations has tumbled well-below the seasonal average this week.

On Wednesday, temperatures in Kilbrace, Scotland plunged to -0.7C (30.7F) and delivered the first frost of the season.

Accompanying the cold has been rare September snow, most notably across the higher elevations — both Ben Nevis and the Cairngorm plateau have registered totals of between 5 to 10cm (2 to 4 inches)–incredibly rare totals for September.
