Current World Disasters 8th April 2012

Wildfire in State of Colorado, USA

-About 58 homes evacuated after the wildfire 2 miles north of Gunnison. Fire spread to 100 acres which was reported to be 70 percent contained.
-Small wildfire also reported in west of Gunnison, Little Blue Canyon and area in southwest of Denver.
-Red flag warning was issued in Gunnison and Routt counties by National Weather Service a day before.
-A gust of 77 mph was reported at Monarch Pass in central Colorado.
-However, there is no reports of any structures being damaged

Extreme weather in Bangladesh


-Seventeen people killed and half a hundred injured after a heavy storms with heavy rains and strong winds in Bangladesh.
-Five hundred homes reported to be damaged.
-Most of the deaths occurred from lightning.

Deadly storms in Buenos Aires, Argentina

-Death toll has risen to 15 (earlier 13)
-Heavy rainfall and hailstorm caused huge destruction
-More than 500 people evacuated. Damage to property of several million pesos
-Four people killed in Buenos Aires City. Four other in Moreno, one in Quilmes, one in Florencio Varela, one in Isidro Casanova, one in Gonnet, one in Flores and another in Avellaneda.

Funny how some weeks you only get 1or 2 day of weather news and the next lots of news.

Landslide in Teresopolis city of Brazil
-Five people killed and around 500 affected by mudslide in Teresopolis region
-Heavy rainfall caused flooding and mudslides
-The highway between Rio de Janeiro and Teresopolis closed for several hours due to flooding
