Ecowitt Wittboy revisited
« on: April 05, 2026, 03:59:15 PM »
Last May I posted about the comparison data between my 16 year old Davis VP2 and an Ecowitt Wittboy WS90 purchased 3 months earlier which sit a couple of metres apart on my North Canterbury property.
Well...... a year later, I have just put in an order for an Ecowitt WH40CH rain gauge to pair with the Wittboy receiver (GW2000) which will over-ride the Haptic rain gauge built into the Wittboy.  Many many hours were spent trying to gain any accuracy using the Haptic gauge, but in vain.  All the other sensors built into the Wittboy have compared pretty closely to the Davis and the compact nature and price make it an attractive proposition for anyone considering buying a station. Just make sure you purchase a separate rain gauge alongside.
As a side comment....... All Ecowitt installations in NZ show up on a map once installed. It's quite amazing the number of stations there are especially in the Canterbury area (100s).
Happy Easter all!
